How Individuals & Families Typically Pay for Care
At AgingWell, we work closely with individuals and families to create care plans that are effective, personalized, and financially realistic.
For home care, “private pay” usually means the family pays AgingWell directly, using personal income, savings, or retirement funds rather than relying on Medicare, Medicaid, or standard health insurance.
Some long-term care insurance policies help cover these costs. We encourage families to review their policies and decide how much care makes sense for their situation.
Unfortunately, most traditional health insurance plans do not cover ongoing, non-medical home care, which is why transparent pricing and planning are so important.
What Are the Benefits of Paying for Home Care?
When families consider the cost of care, they also weigh the short- and long-term benefits of dedicated support at home.
- Enhanced quality of life: Individualized support helps older adults maintain their routines, preferences, and independence.
- Greater safety at home: Trained caregivers help reduce risks such as falls, medication errors, and other preventable issues.
- Emotional connection: Consistent, compassionate care fosters trust and meaningful relationships.
- Support for families: Professional caregivers provide reliable respite, giving loved ones time to rest while ensuring continuity of care.
- Access to specialized services: Long-term care can include enrichment activities, mobility support, therapy coordination, and memory-care assistance tailored to individual needs.
